Boscobel Wins 2011 IABC Heritage Region Silver Quill Award

2010 Power IT Down Day campaign wins Award of Excellence

Nov14

SILVER SPRING, MD - Boscobel Marketing Communications, Inc. announced today that it received the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) Heritage Region Silver Quill Award of Excellence for its work on the 2010 Power IT Down Day campaign. The award, given in the “Government Relations” category, recognizes excellence in business communications.

Boscobel led the promotional outreach for Power IT Down Day, an annual event in which government and industry employees are encouraged to power down their personal computers, monitors and other IT peripherals to reduce energy consumption. Event sponsors Citrix, HP, GTSI and Intel made a $60,000 donation to the Wounded Warrior Project to symbolize the money from kWh saved on Power IT Down Day.

The 2010 campaign achieved more than 17,600 pledges from individual participants—a 315 percent increase from 2009—and its press coverage garnered a total of 63.8 million in media circulation.

The Silver Quill judges specifically highlighted Boscobel’s effective use of social media in helping to raise awareness of Power IT Down Day. The 2010 campaign saw a 1,200 percent increase in Facebook presence from 2009 and maintained LinkedIn and Twitter accounts for the first time.

“Power IT Down Day is a great cause, and we’re thrilled to have supported it again this year,” said Joyce Bosc, president and chief executive officer of Boscobel. “We hope the campaign continues increasing the awareness of efficient energy consumption practices among government employees.”

This is the first award for the annual Power IT Down Day campaign and is now part of the Boscobel award collection featuring Addy Awards, Davey Awards, Silver Inkwells, Stevie Awards and a Golden Web Award.
