Boscobel Wins StevieĀ® Award for 2010 Power IT Down Day Campaign

Campaign wins Public Service Communications/PR Campaign of the Year in Eighth Annual Stevie Awards for Women in Business

Nov21

SILVER SPRING, MD – Boscobel Marketing Communications, Inc. announced today that it has won the Stevie Award for Public Service Communications/PR Campaign of the Year for its work on the 2010 Power IT Down Day campaign.

The Stevie Awards for Women in Business honor women executives, entrepreneurs, and the companies they run – worldwide. The awards are one of four Stevie Awards programs, which have been hailed as the world’s premier business awards.

Power IT Down Day is an annual event that encourages government and industry employees to turn off their personal computers, monitors and other IT peripherals to reduce energy consumption. As a result of the campaign, more than 17,600 individuals pledged to power down on August 27, 2010 – a record high for participation. Boscobel’s communications efforts included strategic planning, public relations, branding, advertising and social media outreach.

Event sponsors Citrix, Intel, HP and GTSI donated $60,000 to Wounded Warrior Project to symbolize the amount of energy saved by the participants that pledged to “power IT down.”

More than 1,300 nominations—the most in the award’s history—were submitted this year for consideration in 75 categories. Finalists in the competition were chosen by business professionals worldwide during preliminary judging. Members of six final judging committees selected Stevie Award winners from among the Finalists during final judging. More than 200 professionals worldwide participated in the judging process this year.

“It is an honor to be recognized by the Stevie Awards for our support of this campaign,” said Joyce Bosc, president and chief executive officer of Boscobel. “We hope Power IT Down Day continues to build awareness of efficient energy consumption practices in the public sector.”

“Women entrepreneurs and executives continue to innovate, excel and impress,” said Michael Gallagher, president of the Stevie Awards. “Regardless of general economic conditions, the achievements of women-owned and –run organizations around the world remain high and are reflected in this year’s honorees.”
