3 Tips for Better Pay-Per-Click Advertising
Pay-per-click (PPC) advertising, a fundamental tool for online marketing, directs traffic to a specific website each time an ad is clicked. One popular, user-friendly model of PPC advertising is Google AdWords.
There are several steps to take that will increase your chances for success when working with AdWords, or any PPC advertising. Below are some important tips from AdWords expert Vanessa van der Have, of van der Have Consulting, to follow if you're interested in launching a PPC campaign:
1. Understand your audience
You can narrow down your target audience to be as specific as a ZIP code. It is important to know where your audience is so that you don't waste precious ad dollars on regions that have little or no interest in what you have to offer.
2. Set a reasonable budget
Consider how much you can afford to spend on advertising. If you already have a budget, think about how much you can dedicate to an online campaign. Keep in mind that you'll have to pay more for popular words or phrases if you want your ad to achieve optimal visibility. -
3. Key words and phrases
Brainstorm and test out some keyword ideas before putting any money toward them. Google your ideas and see if your competitors are showing up. If they are, you want to get a piece of that pie!
4. Use an experienced campaign manager
If not managed properly, a PPC campaign can be unproductive and costly. Take the time to work with someone experienced in AdWords, or PPC advertising - especially if you are just starting your efforts.
